Irony defined - America by Razorlight plays on the radio, and you hear the lyric “There’s nothing on the TV, nothing on the radio…”
No shit guys.
So I was watching the BAFTA Film Awards last night, watching the great actor John Hurt get honoured with a special achievement BAFTA for his work in film, which is deserved. Then I go to my brother asking, why didn’t they call him Sir John Hurt? To which he replied to my dismay, that he wasn’t. I double checked on Wikipedia afterwards, and there it was in writing, John Hurt CBE, not Sir John Hurt. Considering the people that have been knighted nowadays, there are far more deserving people such as John Hurt who have earned one.
It’s high time the Queen woke up and realised this, I mean look at one of the first knighthoods she gave out this year, I forget his name and can’t be arsed to check as it’s not worth my time, all I know is he’s a TV producer who brought Big Brother and Changing Rooms to our TV screens, wow, what an achievement. Then you have people like Phillip Green, a self made billionaire, ok, but there are plenty of other British entrepreneurs who haven’t been given a knighthood, and quite rightly so, as making money shouldn’t be an achievement, more so consideration for a Knighthood.
In short - Why isn’t John Hurt knighted yet?
